Hi all

In an ongoing tradition, I've made a composite of the best planetary images I captured during 2007.

All images were captured with my 12" newt on EQ6, with DMK21AF04, 5x powermate, Atik manual filter wheel and Astronomik RGB filters.

I'm disappointed I didn't make any effort to capture Mercury or Neptune, but in 2008 i'll definitely be doing so.

When compared with my 2005 and 2006 compositions, I'm very pleased with the improvement over the last 12 months, thanks to a better telescope and mount, and better knowledge in capturing and processing.

I've been looking at pictures of the planets taken with BIG telescopes in old encyclopaedias/reference books 20-30yrs old and it's just amazing what amateurs can now do.

That is a stunning presentation Mike. It demonstrates the many aspects of the planet's "surface" as well as their orbit positions.

Many of the points I try to explain to my clients (students) are demonstrated clearly. So I will be directing them to check this out on IIS.

good shots there mike, the closing up of saturns rings is so noticable seen like this.

represents a lot of time and effort well done.

Youll have to add neptune for a full set this year, you cuold always add pluto for sentimental reasons too i reckon.

Fantastic effort, a wonderful show of our solar system. Anazing that images like this can be attained outside of a large observatory.
