Copernicus

Here's the last lunar image from my session on the 21st October, of the well-known and often-imaged crater, Copernicus.

Taken with the 12" newt, EQ6, DMK21AF04 + 2x barlow + R filter.

300 frames stacked in each of 7 alignment points, out of 3500 frames captured at 30fps.

Processed in Registax, AstraImage and Photoshop.

Thanks.

Hi Mike

That is a beaut image. It is slightly “soft” compared to your recent hi-res batch of images, but still a fine portrait of this iconic crater. It somehow seems strange writing the above, as 2 to 3 years ago I would have been responding with WOW. Methinks you may have raised the bar too high!

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks Outback, give me a PM when it gets closer with your mobile# - would be great to meet. Might be able to arrange some observing if the weather is clear?

Dennis - thanks. I probably could've given it an extra hit with USM but I was trying to avoid blowing out the highlights and introducing artifacts. Such a fine balancing act sometimes.

Thanks for commenting.

Images like this get me thinking.
Wouldn't it be something to be in the Shuttle, in a low orbit around the moon and see it up close and personal.
I won't be too many years away before cashed up commoners will be able to do just that.
