A great day
Does it get any better than this?
I've had yesterday and today off. My 'weekend', for having worked Sat/Sun.
Got the house to myself. Been pottering around in the garden, taking in the Brisbane sunshine.
Inside now. Tinkering with the DMK and checking out some potential new astro purchases on-line.
And now I'm sitting down with a freshly made (ground) cup of coffee and taking in another episode of Carl Sagan's 'Cosmos'. (I got the 7-disc Collector's Edition DVD boxed set as a birthday gift).
This is the life.

Welcome to Queensland Matt, it's good to have you here.
I'm also on my 2 days off, having worked through the normal weekend, and it's a beaut day here on the Sunshine Coast too. You wouldn't be dead for quids, as the saying goes.
(I received the same Cosmos set for my birthday too back in July!)

I know the feeling, HRH works every second Friday night so I get to spend a bit of time with the Hi-Fi turned up and just doing whatever takes my fancy. Sometimes it's nice to have a bit of time with no pressure and no need to devote your time to anyone else but yourself.

Thanks, Steve. It's great to be here. I've really enjoyed my first six weeks in Brisbane and things are going great.
I'm working full-time in a radio newsroom in Brisbane and so far things are going very nicely. It's taking up a lot of my time, but I'm pleased to be 'earning' a living so soon after arriving and I'm sure things will settle down after I've been at it for a while.
I had a chat with Ron (astroron) a short while ago and will be looking to catch up with you guys very soon.
Again, thanks for the welcome and the kind thoughts...both now and prior to my arrival

An indulgent pleasure for sure, Phil. Cheers.

How funny. I'm sick at home with a horrid sore throat and a cough from hell.
I, too, am watching "Cosmos".

I too, have the next 4 days off, after working last weekend and next weekend. I also have just been pottering around in the beautiful Melbourne weather today, making a portable box to transport my astronomy kit outside at nighttime.
hoo roo,
Steve

I have the Carl Sagan series here too, great viewing and very relaxing to watch. Mind you, since I retired I thought that life would get much easier, seem to be busier than ever, wonder how I found time to work.
One of my favourite songs Steve, Eric Bogle - I Wouldn't Be Dead For Quids.

I'm fed up with days off!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish the doctor would clear me for work again! Sick of being injured. This blasted pension pays stuff all.
Glad you enjoyed it Matt, just don't take too many off or you'll get bored eventually too.

Hi Matt, good to see your having a few quality days off. I'm counting down the days until my holidays start in November.
Hey Ken, hope your back at work soon. A mate of mine has been off work for nearly a year with a back injury, he has never chucked a sickie in his life and this is really cheesing him off. It's the same thing all he want's to do is work.
Cheers

Don't think there's much risk of that, Ken.
These were just days off to make up for working Saturday and Sunday.
It's back to work I go...this morning

Yes Matt...it IS sweet while it lasted..I agree 100%..I had the weekend off and made the trip to ASV's dark sky site to test my new mount..(6 months thinking, 2 months construction, 1 week recovering!!)..sky had a few clouds but cleared..mount worked well and only needed a few tweeks..and on the way home indulged in a few pineapple creams from the Kilmore Bakery!!
Hope you're back in the workforce soon too Ken..
Cheers!
