I think this is basically the "Off Topic" forum, but I'm not sure. If not, mods feel free to delete this or put it in the appropriate place.

Anyways, I know there has to be some car guys here, or some physics guys here...so I have a question.

If you're sliding around a corner, do you want wheel spin in the corner so the RPM's stay up coming out of the corner? Then coming out the traction picks up & you're already in the high RPM's allowing the car to hit the powerband coming out of the turn & "pick up" (engine) in the start or middle of the back stretch instead of hitting it going into turn 3?

Hi Ingo,
Without wanting to appear to be a "hoon", I would keep the rev's in powerband.
It should reduce unwanted over steer.

If you are on your way to the telescope shop it is OK to keep the RPMs up.

Yes I was actually on my way to picking up my 5000mm F1.0 with Canon made fluorite optics.

a few years lol You dont happen to travel to Granby, Quebec to race?
I have a friend there Lloyd Sturtevant who races and used to work as pit
crew, well mud remover lol

It's a sportsman. We don't have the money to go modified. First year in a sportsman & we used to run pro stock before. We're having troubles with pick up coming out of the corner & it barely picks up just before going into turn 3.

We're at a local track in Malta, NY around Saratoga Springs. Albany Saratoga Speedway.

Yes the brakes are for slowing the car in the pit area...and the clutch for maintaining revs if they fall off, the accelorator is best replaced with an "on off" switch... er just an "on" switch should do it. Just before the corner flick the sterring to the outside and flick back to the inside as you feel the body sway out..that will put the rear out as far as it will go..pop the clutch at full revs and point where you wish to go..and hang on.

Its about seeing what produces the best time or "style" if thats the game so practice practice practice.

Yep, we can go around the corners , it's the only way we pass. Gaining speed coming out is where we have problems.
