Enjoyed some morning sunshine in Brisbane today and managed to grab a single image of Sunspot 776. It's not that great, but at least I managed to get the 'scope out this week - at last!
Vixen 4" refractor, Meade LPI, Baader solar film and TeleVue x5 PowerMate. Due to the poor seeing, the Sunspot was rapidly deforming and oscillating to such an extent that it just was not possible to stack multiple images to improve the washed out look.
bugger, don't you hate it when someone has clear skies. well done, I have been waiting all weekend to get some more shots since friday's efforts but you beat me to it. nice closeup
Your amazing full disk image from Friday using the Pentax inspired me to get out and grab this one, as the spots looked huge and detailed in your photo. I haven't done much better in spite of using a 4" refractor and my Vixen Great Polaris mount, when compared to the minimalist approach of your x2 converter and tele lens.
i wouldn't call it minimalist though, the lens cost me 2 grand and the 2 times converter $400, and the extra filter was $109 (now i have 3, 12", 4", and a 90mm)
