Hi Duncan, that is some pretty wierd temps for FNQ. The grey army that travel's north each year to escape the cold will be a bit upset then.

Cheers

The 'mongrels' were whingeing about the cold here in the Mackay/Whitsundays area. It was 9 C last night. At least it only lasts a few days.

Thats pretty cold for you guys. I'm heartily sick of the grey here. At least it gave us some rain today but mostly we have had very little actual precipitation, just grey. I have ordered a new mount and it should arrive on Monday. It seems odd that the weather is crap before getting new equipment.

From what i've heard and seen, 1974,75 ,1945-50, it seems to be a cyclical thing. And the whole thing might belong to a much larger cycle to. If you look at the ice cores they get from Greenland there is a definate pattern. Albeit one that spans many tens of thousands of years. Global warming just means we go into deep freeze earlier. Sounds wierd but temp peaks but then plummets, and the whole thing can happen within 10-50years.
Anyway up here it happens on a regular basis. In for another dose tonight so i think i'll stay indoors and keep warm,LOL.
Cheers

At least this morning we didn't have frost, well not in our yard anyway,LOL.
Still damn cold though. Hopefully we'll get back to normal now. If only you Victorians would stop sending it up here.

That's very unusual for your part of the world Duncan. Interesting info about the cycle, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for sharing.

I watched a very interesting doco on Discovery Science or National Geo about all the drill sites in Greenland and the Arctic. Taking core samples down to 3 miles deep. Analising Atmospheric gases and pollens trapped within the ice and they can measure temperatures and conditions for that period of time. Apparently we are sitting almost at a peak and about to plummet back towards ice-age. Made for a very interesting show. Can't remember the name of it but if you come across it you'll know.
Cheers
