Eris found to be 27% more massive than Pluto

From this mornings news @ nature, astronomers have found that Eris is 27% more massive than Pluto. It was previously known to be about 1/3 larger - approx. 3000km diameter. Now the mass determination allows the calculation of density - approx 2.3 g/cm3.

Interesting article, thanks Al.

I listened with interest to the science@NASA podcast last night about the mission NASA is launching to visit both Vesta and Ceres.

They're hoping it's going to shed some more insight onto the early formation of the solar system.
