Doodad widefield with 200 f2.8 L

Hi all again,
Its fun having a new toy to play with...

.
Managed to get half a hours clear sky before low cloud rolled in, so managed to get 12 frames at 90 sec (iso 800) of the dark doodad thing plus two globs as well.
Managed to get the focus much better this time with some tweaking..
Was hoping for a pile more frames but happy with the results..

Uploaded a larger (500ks) image to IIS ftp server for a better rez version as these wideangle shots really suffer from jpg compression..

Is the Dark Doodad a visible observation with an 8" reflector? Been clouded in for days now here, so cannot just try it as yet.

Cheers everyone for the comments!! Its a bit of a art getting focus just right with this lense but I`ll get there..
It was rather hazy and light when I imaged this...would be mice on a really dark night!!
I have never looked at it visually but I guess you should be able to make it out by the absence of stars..I don`t know if you can resolve the Glob but..??

Spend a while observing Musca last night. Went for the two globulars highligted in "binocular highlights" column of latest S&T.

Then went on to see what I could spot of the Dark Doodad. Of course, I could see nothing like the image Gary gave us, but I could make out the general shape and location. I'm happy.

That's very impressive Gary, I have never heard of that Doodad thing, but i have to admit for the short time you had to get the image, you did a great job.

I would certainly like a go at that, where do i find it

Leon, in Musca (just "under" Crux). In Gary's photo, the blue star is Gamma Muscae, the orange star is Delta Muscae. The glob "up" from Delta is NGC 4833 and the glob "down right" from Gamma is NGC 4372.

A really dark sky helps in seeing this. Usually it just looks like an area with an absence of stars and doesnt really stand out.
Last year I was up bush on an fantastically transparent and dark night and the doodad was obvious in the little 30mm finder scope
