Auspost at it again

Australia Post seems to have dropped the ball again, recent deliveries just not up to scratch. Customer service is at an all time low, don't bother contacting them - scripted replies and non-committal attitude/window dressing to satisfy the Ombudsman.

I hope my latest is getting frequent flier points - it hasn't even entered the abyss of Chullora sorting centre yet.

If you asked them to organise a chook raffle, it'd be in the wrong pub for sure.

Bah!

And to cap it all off................................
How much does the Auspost CEO make?
Mr Graham will take home an annual fixed salary of $1,456,560, with the same amount payable in potential incentive payments.

I am sorry to hear all that..I picked up another parcel today (posted Monday or Tuesday)
And have nothing but praise.
I think with the sheer number of deliveries it is amazing things go so well.
I hope you get to enjoy what I have.

I've got some spacer rings coming from China.

They've just been placed "in transit". 3 days to get them moving, not bad.

Not allowing for the Chullora black hole, estimated delivery is between 16 Nov to 29 Dec. Now THAT is hedging your bets!

Incidentally, the Orange Connex company that is reponsible now references as using "WeChat: Orange United China".

'WeChat: Orange United' in China, or 'WeChat Orange' in a 'United China'?

I hope that doesn't add to the delay...

Don't worry, USPS is also terrible.. Probably more consistantly terrible as well, Auspost does get it right sometimes. USPS? Not really

This is being sent through a "partner network" i.e. outsourced. Look at all the stops this takes. 7 days just to make it one state over to it can fly out of the country.
And for me, if you decide to outsource or partner, you take responsibility for your contractor's performance.

With no doubt, when Auspost gets it right, they're great! BUT (and there's always a but) when they get it wrong, it's totally pearshaped.

Customer Service is, as I said, only "window-dressing". Useless.

And my Postie is an absolute cracker! Best in Australia, no problem he can't handle. A Gem.

I know we all like to slag off at AusPost, but when you think about it, they do a pretty good job to deliver so many parcels across the country.

I've had a parcel sat in the black hole that is the Sunshine West sorting office for the last week and a half - and the kicker is they won't even investigate until after the 8th November has passed.....

[QUOTE=AstroViking;1572707] they do a pretty good job to deliver so many parcels across the country.

==================================

Keywords here being "2016".

Times have however changed, not for the better. 2020 and 2021 they did a great job during trying times, but 2022 has revealed a totally different mindset for the company and its attitude to customers needs.

Whilst still essentially owned by and responsible to the Australian public, it's being run as a money grubbing entity by money grubbing executives with no empathy for its customers. Staff morale is at an all time low, full time being replaced by casual and "contract" labour - hence the flippant and supercilious attitude - no responsibility or accountability.

Having said that, I still prefer them to courier companies. Just wish the Customer Service department would actually provide just that - Service.

Well yes they have dropped the ball. Over the last 6 months anything ordered from a seller in Vic I get it within 3-4 days here in country SA. Lately its extended to 10+ days minimum and going by tracking it sits in the ether for unknown reasons. Maybe wanting new watches to get motivated again.

They certainly run hot and cold. Not the most reliable, that is for sure. I have found getting stuff off Amazon to be pretty good, usually only a day or 2 for australian orders and tracked all the way. At least my experience has been good with them. Obviously cant be used for general postage.

And once more for the beginners.........Recently lodged an enquiry regarding an item "stalled" in AP Melbourne facility, advised by the relatively inexperienced customer service lass that Post Offices aren't open on weekends. I eventually explained to her that it wasn't in a PO, but a distribution centre which operates 24/7. She wasn't happy with that, and went on to say AP didn't have the item, and she was unable to explain why their tracking website said it did and had a comprehensive trail till it "stalled". Lo and behold, 4 hrs later an email notification that it had been found and was progressing after a 3 working day hiatus. Why have staff answering telephone enquiries who have absolutely NO basic idea how the system operates?

Apart from that, I'm still waiting in vain for a seperate "Express" post item from Brisbane -Travelled so far Bris/Melb/Syd/ Now they admit they've sent it in error to Warrabrook in Newcastle, and it will have to go back to the black hole of the Chullora centre before coming out to Central Western NSW. The excuse given - difficulties due to Covid? C'Mon!

AP have started the new year well with me too!
Bought a telescope week before last from a supplier down south. Normally will take a couple of days at most to get to me.
A week later on the Thursday night I contacted the supplier to see if they had an AP tracking number which they did, and they also advised that it had been sitting at my local PO since the Monday. But in the meantime - no AP delivery card - no text - nothing from AP at all.
Went to the PO Friday afternoon and was told that they had left a card (nope) and had texted (nope).
Good start AP. Good start...

Classic Aussie Post.

I had a package that took 8 days to get from Dandenong to the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

It went all around Melbourne to every single sorting facility too lol.

Amazing how they manage to stuff up simple Australian deliveries. Item sent from Melbourne 2nd Jan to country SA arrived today 23/1 via Alice Springs and who knows where else. When asked at the local PO 'its the large volume of mail'. When I asked my local postie she said deliveries had reduced a lot since xmas rush.

I recently joined Amazon Prime so I could buy a telescope that was a members only price, and I've since bought a couple of other things through them. Their prices aren't always good but I'll give them credit for their delivery service, it's very good!

Unlike Aus Post, where things can get to Adelaide and then bounce from one sorting centre to the next before someone eventually figures out where it's actually going.
