Registration for AP drawing soon

Astro-Physics just announced their release plans for their new telescope.

110mm f6 StarFire GTX (110GTX) Brand : Astro-Physics USD $6,750.00

Starting March 7th until March 14th you can enter for a chance to purchase…

Details can be found on their website.

I do not know how many scopes will be made (not sure they fully do yet either due to availability of quality materials).

Steep price and I need another scope like a need another hole in my head but I plan to register for the draw…not sure how many more scopes Roland has in him and FOMO will run high…

I will put my name in the draw but I don't fancy my chances of getting my name drawn.

I'd sell my Esprit 120 to fund that. Very nice.

AP 110GTX Scope US$6750
Rings US $422
Telecompressor/flattener US$1,450
Shipping/insurance US$225
Finder bracket and
quick release about another US$100

Total US$8,947 @.64 AUD USD exchange rate = $13,979.69
GST and clearance fees around AUD$1,550.

Total $15,529.69 Aussie. Or something close to this.

There will also be a dedicated flattener at some point for probably
US$750-$850 = about AUD$1,530 including shipping and GST.

So total cost with all the imaging accessories is AUD$17,059.69.

Greg.

Pretty close.

I think you'll find shipping to be around $USD670 or so.
AP pretty much only use FedEx

P.S.
Anyone interested in a used FSQ106EDXIII ?

Their website says US$225 for international. But I can't imagine Fedex charging so little.

Indeed, I struggled to find a $USD225 international shipping reference on the AP website.......perhaps it was another vendor.

None the less, $A five figures for a premium 4 inch refractor.....who would have guessed.

There is an AP175 EDF for sale here in Perth (29,950 AUD). It is more scope than I can handle but it does make the 110 GTX look quite affordable.

You know.... I'd likely pay the price is it was $A.

But the price is $USD ($A44k or so)

Oops, my mistake! That is quite a difference. Certainly makes the AP 110 GTX (or TEC 180) seem quite reasonable.

Yes, I had another look and couldn't see it mentioned anywhere either but they do mention who they use and one of those is Fedex. So that cost would be as suggested in the earlier posts.

That's why I did the work out so the actual cost is clearer. So it's a bit more than my original estimate. Add another $1000 so closer to $18,000.

Greg.

Coming up to last call for those interested in registering for the chance to buy one…

You may sign up anytime between now and Tuesday, March 14 at 12:00pm CST. Notifications for an opportunity to purchase the 110GTX will be based on a random drawing from entries submitted within that window.

I got as far as entering my details last night but just couldn’t do it…I got the Quad for the 130 a while back so whilst I am sure this will be a brilliant scope, it’s not for me.

Good luck with the draw for those entering.
