Rosette Nebula

Been a while since I've been able to image - weather, travel, other life stuff getting in the way. Managed a couple of clear nights over Xmas though and put a bit over 5 hours onto Rosette Nebula, a target I was keen to revisit but didn't get a chance to last summer thanks to La Nina.

EQ6R
533MM Pro
Chroma 5nm Ha/Sii & 3nm Oiii
Esprit 80
ZWO EAF & EFW, ASIAir Plus

35x 180" Sii
45x 180" Ha
35x 180" Oiii

Will add some more data to it next opportunity but not sure I will get one in the near future. Would like to add some RGB stars in too although I don't hate the SHO star colours on this target.

Hi Craig,

I love the depth in this one. For me it has far too much green cast though. I feel if you toned that down and did add your RGB stars this would be one of the better Rosettes going around. Very nice work

Thanks Ryan. I try to retain a little green in my SHO images - maybe too much with this one? Here it is re-attached with the green reduced.

This is really nice Craig. I prefer the second version. If you manage to get sone RGB stars, thus will improve an already amazing image!

Thanks all. I've replaced the image in the OP with the updated version now since it seems to be unanimously preferred!

Lovely image. I love how you’ve brought so much depth to the image making it look 3d in appearance. Colours are great.

Craig,
A fine image of the Rosette
Colour is always subjective but my preference is the second or revised version
Well done !!
Martin

PS: Rosette is on my list this summer , haven’t imaged it since 2021. It’s a shame it doesn’t traverse higher as it’s always subject to atmospheric dispersion at those lower altitudes.

Nice one, Craig. I've never shot the Rosette before, but this is definitely spurring me to do so, because it's an excellent shot
