Tigers, Taipans and Super Hornets run amok in the Brisbane CBD

As part of the annual Riverfire Festival, the Army Aviation ARH Tiger and MRH-90 Taipan helicopters performed a practice run along the Brisbane River on Thur 1st Sept, followed by a couple of RAAF F/A-18F Super Hornets the next day under some cloudy, saturated skies.

It was soooo much more challenging to frame and track the fast jets, compared to the more pedestrian helo's.

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks Peter, the saturated atmosphere made for some spectacular passes.

No C-17 this year and the air display was at the beginning of the festival.

Cheers

Thanks Jo and Marc, I appreciate your comments.

It seems that the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) were playing with our minds.

The RAAF Flight Ops and Riverfire websites both wrote that a SINGLE F/A-18F Super Hornet was scheduled to fly along the Brisbane River on the practice run.

However, my photos from the event show Tail Numbers 201 and 204, so the RAAF actually sent 2 different jets to keep us entertained.

Cheers

Thanks Leon, I was a little rusty as the last time this event was run was back in 2019 with the COVID years in between.

Thanks Derek, good pick up on the gull - it survived.

The helicopter display caught me off guard as they had to fly a modified route due to all the building and bridge construction taking place along the Brisbane River.

Cheers

Thanks Greg - I was a little rusty after a 2 year hiatus due to COVID-19 cancellations.
