Jupiter last night - 6th May in poor seeing

Seeing was very average last night. This was recorded in 3.5-4/10 seeing with Jupiter at an altitude of 52°, through high hazy cloud.

The seeing then started deteriorating and then improving again, but never got better than the 1st avi of the night (this one). Before it had a chance to improve any more, clouds came and spoiled the party. I was happy to go back to bed though, so I didn't mind too much.

It's my first image in over 2 weeks! Not a great comeback but glad to have caught something.

Recorded at 15fps (1/15s) due to terrible transparency (through high cloud), 40 seconds each channel. 350 frames from each channel stacked.

Thanks for looking.

Good work, Mike.

At least you managed to get something. I too have resorted to imaging in very ordinary conditions of late, such are the withdrawal symptoms!

I was ready to have a go too, last night. But just when the planet hit 40 degrees...in rolled the clouds.

There might be some reasonable conditions on the way later this week? Might.

Still good work Mike and a great image scale. We had variable 5/10 last night in Brisbane, with occasional bursts of 6 to 7/10, but I focused on the Moon rather than Jove, in-between sets of clouds of course!

Cheers

Dennis
