NGCs 6723, 6727 and 6729 (in Corona Australis)

Howdy :-) A somewhat noisy image of a spot in Corona Australis that has a nice combo of nebula (NGC6727 & 29), dust lanes and a large globular cluster (NGC6723). I wanted to get a few hours of OSC data but only got about one with the moon nearby - I spent the remainder of the evening wrestling with guiding on my AZ-EQ6. As a newbie, guiding is still a bit of a magic and I think I need help to refine my guiding & Ekos setup, but I'll make that a separate topic.

Image taken using a SW120ED with 0.85 reducer/flattener, and ASI294MC.

Edited in Siril, Photoshop and Topaz Denoise, and cropped.

Nice capture Alex. Haven't looked at these ones before, something else to add to the future target list!

The moon is one reason I'm glad I picked up a mono version of the 294 - currently shooting Ha without having to be too concerned about the moon. The next week will be pretty much nothing but Ha (the only narrowband filter I currently have) then I'll start on the LRGB to fill thing in.

Keep up the great work.

Cheers,
Mark

Looks good Alex, a great mix of nebula and glowing cluster, with those massive lanes of dust.

I'll have to see if that's visible to me and add it to the (ever growing) list of targets.

Cheers,
V

Thanks Mark and Steve. I got the idea from Dave882; one of his recent images with his C14 was a much closer view of the central nebula and dust lanes (...great image, Dave). Looks like I'll be home this weekend and Sat night looks like a beauty in the ACT
