my version of the Running Chicken nebula

IC 2944 and IC 2948

The Running Chicken nebula-Erwin calls the same object the Bat nebula, I 'm not sure what the more popular name is ...

I have been hunting this object for a while and did finally image it last Thursday,

This is just one three minute image -and at ISO 800- I didn't get anywhere as deep as the spectacular image Erwin has posted in this thread

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...&threadid=1925

(as an aside, I doubt you will find a better image than Erwin has posted by any amateur anywhere on the web)

Still despite being a stock-unmodded Canon- a reasonable amount of nebulosity is apparent. (There was a bit of a moon and my raw image was almost completely washed out thanks to my less than perfect backyard location)

My son did all the processing on this one..I had trouble getting rid of the gradient myself but teenagers must have been put on this Earth for a Purpose..
