In the first reference that I saw to its situation, it said that it would be repaired. I've seen nothing further on the subject since.

Amazing to think that the replacement price tag is around 5 billion... a lot of money to make a small cargo ship fly.

The aircraft can reportedly carry about 250 tons (twice that of the Galaxy C5) ... not really a small cargo ship. The huge cost is because it is a one of a kind aircraft not a production aircraft.

I remember taking a long stroll through an AN-124 as it visited Townsville.
Losing the AN-225 is a tragedy, with no attempt made to cheapen others' losses this week.
