LXD75 8" SC or NOT???

Just wondering if anyone has this scope and can give me a review of it please? I have an etx125pe, but am looking for something a little bigger and want to eventually put an ED80 on top of it.

Just after something for good viewing and for astrophotography thru and ccd and digital SLR.

thanks in advance

This isn't any help but you can get a celestron ota and an eq5 pro from andrew's for nearly the same money. I'm considering a 8" Mak from Frontier optics for a similar purpose---very similar.

thanks

thanks for your quick reply! which model is the Celestron ota? I did have a look at them, but I am quickly getting confused. I am after a mount that has a goto as well. I understand that the HEQ5 is a good stable base, but any thoughts on the Meade mount?

Hi Omega, welcome to IIS!

What do you want to do with it? Visual or photography or both?

You would presumably get just the 8" OTA carbon or not to carbon is the question dear Whatson. And stuff the Heq5pro in as a package, at this time I would include a GSO SCT crayford focuser @ $169, nice buying if your after a SCT. Just make sure it is v3 or at least upgradeable. I think you can get that mount on a pier instead of a tripod if you want stability over portability. I'm jealous I was unintentionally made to wait. Bring on the rain you say!!
