Jupiter 14th March (UT) - Tassie

Hi Guys,
The good seeing continued and ended up being the best this joop apparition. I rate it about 7.5/10. The shadow of IO was dead still most of the time.
Mirror temps were spot on at 13.9 a piece, so what could spoil the party......well the person who got drunk and spoilt it for all was the transparency....................hig h clouds and intermittant
Very happy with the results. The two images vary by the amount of gamma taken out. THe left by.8 and the right by .6
I am confident that there will be more nights like this but with the transparency behaving itself!!!
(now...off to talk to Bird re ppmcentring or noknickering fits files!! :s)
enjoy

Bloody lovely DP, great work with the lum + filters.

Not as big as your ToUcam images, but imo these are smoother and sharper.

Well done!

Had another look now after getting to work, I like it even more. The right one is my preferred.

the best thing is that the is room to grow, ie longer focal length by getting a 16" or 12" mirror. the extra light will also mean i can go from 15fps to 30fps.

also by going astronomiks filters, it will help as well.

very happy with setup, the image scale is now at a size that is acceptable to me and it will only get bigger going into opposition

DP, I use fits files for my own capturing, and ppmcentre should handle them ok, both 8 and 16 bit. Let me know if you have problems - so far nobody else except me uses the fits files so the code might not be properly tested.

cheers, Bird
