Sold: Meade 40mm and some cheapo eyepieces

G'day all,

I have some eyepieces that I never use. So I'm selling them.

Meade Series 4000 Super Plossl 40mm
- Rarely used in the few years I've had it.
- Perfect condition.
- Never cleaned, and doesn't need cleaning.
- Comes in one of those bolt eyepiece cases.
- Retails for AU$99 now
- Sell for $70 + shipping

Cheapo's
- Came with my Skywatcher 70x700 scope from Andrews
- 1 x 25mm, 1 x 10mm, 1 x 2 times barlow
- No brand - they are unbranded
- Used once by me just to see they actually worked
- Feel light compared to a Meade but I suspect they are actually glass, not plastic lenses.
- Clean and in as-new condition.
- Come in original boxes.
- A quick google shows the cheapest Plossl's seem to be around $35/each, so will sell these for $30 for the 3 + shipping. Fact is I may as well keep them for less than that.

I'm not a good judge of eyepieces so for opinions on their quality, best to google for reviews yourself.

I'll accept direct electronic transfer, or Pay Pal. For Pay Pal add 3%. Cash if picked up in person (Perth).

Roger.

Just to clarify:

I'm not intending to suggest the skywatcher eyepieces are Plossl, but am simply comparing them to the cheapest thing you'd be likely to buy new.

Hi Roger
I'm in Perth and am interested in your Meade Series 4000 Super Plossl 40mm. Is this a 1 1/4" eyepiece? I presently have the 12.4mm member of this family.
Cheers
Pete

Hi Pete,

It is 1.25". I think they get away with 1.25" because it is not a wide field (ultra wide/super wide) eyepiece, it's a Plossl.

Thanks,
Roger.
