Barèges & Bergon Valley

Couple of pics from my auntie.

First 4 are a little above Barèges which is on the west side of the col du tourmalet, the steepest col the TDF goes through. On the first shot facing ENE you can see the pic du midi on the left of the field. Fresh snow.

The second series is above the cloud line facing the Bergon Valley. The village under the thick clouds to the left is called Argelès-Gazost. If you could pin point where all the aragnous are coming from that would be it. They haven't moved from that valley since the 13th century and most are still nearby. I'm the only expat.

Oh nice, water porn for those times when we are sweltering in a heatwave/drought summer.

I’m happy to say my wife and I and a few others will be spending 10 days riding through the Pyrenees in July ‘19.

A long term ‘need’ lol

Currently training on the hills in the Dandenongs, before going to the Tour Down Under, in Jan next year, for a reminder on riding in hot conditions....last year in the the low 40’s every day.....loved it.

Keep the photos coming Marc....hope to add some of my own in 7 months time....hopefully without the snow.

Matt

You'll have fun for sure in July. 40c riding? Wow! I did that once for a 40km ride and the following day I was totalled big time.

Yep riding our road bikes. A choice of 60km or longer harder rides up to 120 kms in the mountains. Will ride and watch le Tour go past.....on no less than three stages in the Pyrenees....can’t wait

As for hot temperatures....it’s my thing.....just love it

Yeah it's been pretty hot in QLD and above I see. Use one of those pics as your desktop background. That'll cool you off.

Great pics Marc - what an amazing and beautiful part of the world.
I'd love to visit there one day.
