Land rover goes astro

Land Rover have just release a series of commercials featuring stories of owners of their vehicles.

One of my eclipse chasing friends, Joel Moskowitz from New York, and his huge portable dob has been featured in one of them.

Like the cars, hate the cars, I don't care. I just like the ad! It projects a positive image of amateur astronomers.

The guy looking through the Meade ETX sans eyepiece at 1:04 was priceless

Lewis,

I missed that. I was more interested in how they portrayed Joel wasn't paying attention to little details. They've really captured him au natural. No acting.

It probably didn't occur to me as that unusual. I frequently look through my 4" mak with no eyepiece first. Use that to find and centre a bright star then adjust the finderscope.

In this case, it wasn't even dark. I doubt the guy was an idiot, so there's probably a good reason for what he was doing.

And it was cloudy - all in all, not the ideal set-up for an astro party!

I didn't even mention the lady just after "ETX Guy" looking into what appears to be a Skywatcher finder pointing down at terra firma...

Great vid. Yeah I got that too especially when he talks about his grand daughter.
