Turning Point Today.......

Well I feel old today............I just got back from dropping my little girl (8yo)
at NIDA (Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art) for acting classes.
I was really just the proudest dad to see her walk through that front door of that big Sydney Uni building, but I have to admitt, I kind of felt like I had come to a turning point.......she is getting big now
As we have home schooled her because of our traveling habits, it was the first time I have left her in the hands of total strangers.
She kind of seemed all grown up today

cheers...........

PS its my wife who does the schooling.............with my bad spelling I couldn't teach her a thing!!

I really hope she enjoys herself. It will be a great opportunity for her to socialize as well as learn.

NIDA's a great place. My sis-in-law was their first-ever graduate from their director's school - years ago. She always said that the school purveyed an air of fun and learning, and the work ethic was first class. You daughter is a lucky girl to get to go there. Great to see Harb

Sure will be a turning point, John! I wish her well and I bet you and your wife are both thinking about her all day today.

We'll be going through a similar (well, sort of) thing in 3 weeks.. our daughter Eliza goes to Kindergarden!! Jacob goes to year 2..

My wife has already shed a tear or two thinking about sending Eliza off to school. Abbey will be at home alone! She'll be very lonely waiting for Eliza to get home!

In 3 years when it's Abbey's turn, my wife will be a complete mess!

yeah thanks everyone...........
It is only a short course, but I have always tried to work really hard so she can have every thing in life I didn't when I was a kid.
Don't get me wrong, my folks were the best parents, but dad, an air force man and mum tring to hold it all together at home for weeks at end sometimes, and the constant moving around............well I just wanted it to be better for my little angel.
She will get my suport which ever way she goes in life, but I recon it is my job as a parent to expose her to as many good things as posible, so she can make an informed choice.
My wife does a great job teaching her and she is very advanced for her age, maybe as a result of the broad variety of things we do and places we go.
I consider myself lucky......very lucky.
sorry for rambling on......just a proud dad you see!!

Here are some pics of the girl herself from a couple of years ago.........

Harb

I'm touched by your obvious love and devotion to your daughter.

It also makes me feel great to see a young person so obviously embracing the wonderful opportunites you and your wife have placed before her.

You've certainly given her a great start.

Congrats, mate... and keep feeding her obvious fascination

you know matt, all my mates said "oh well, your life is over" when she was born.
Well they were so wrong...........my life has gotten so much better, I can't tell you how much..............then again, I guess that is the joy of being a parent.

It is so nice to be privelleged to be allowed such a private insite to your feelings..and those of others who have openned their hearts to show us around.
So the meaning of life would appear not to be "42" after all.
Thanks you for sharing your most persious moments with your daughter.
best wishes
alex
