Nintendo Wii

Hi all,
Hope you all had a very merry Christmas.

Managed to get one of the new Nintendo Wii games systems for the kids' Xmas. Great fun, the controller detects motion so you can use it like a baseball bat, tennis racket, golf club and even play boxing.
The kids played it all day till way past their usual bedtimes.

But, boxing day morning is a different story - they've both woken up complaining of RSI type muscle pains and strains!!!
One boy has been given pain killers, the other needed an ice pack

No wonder there is a Health and Safety disclaimer on the opening screen!

The upside of this is that the Nintendo is free all day for Dad to work on his golf swing

Cheers
Doug

bout time they came up with a games machine that actually made you use muscles instead of turning all your muscles to fat...

There was a story on TV last week (SkyNews I think) about the effects on the body of the new physical Nintendo!

Kids all over the world are getting sprains and strains.

But I really felt sorry for one Mum. She was walking past her son as he took a swing at some item in the game and belted her in the head. She ended up in hospital instead of the kid !!!

I played a playstation 2 with an "eye toy" video camera attached at a mates place once. You play games through moving your arms/body, and the camera detects the motion and translates that into the controls for specialised games. The next day it I felt as though I had done a massive upper body aerobics session, everything was so sore!

Hi Ken,
We were quite impressed with the games and I checked online to get the cost of a second controller so that the kids could play against each other etc - the top Google result was "Nintendo recalls 3.2 million hand controllers"!!!!!! These things have been flying out of young hands and damaging LCD , Plasma screens, parents, siblings and friends all over the globe
Seems the wrist strap isn't up to the rough treatment dished out by the kids.
My little girl has already fired this thing across the room, and my 8 yr old boy has an uncanny knack of punching the TV with it!!!!
I'm thinking of putting a fire guard round the telly
RE your tale - all the games have screens urging players to make sure there's no one in close proximity and Health and Safety warnings!!!!
Cheers, take care - those kids are crazy!!!!!!
Doug

I bought myself one of these when they where released, they are good fun indeed. Bowling is fun, the good thing is anyone can play it.

though the Wii does have it's own risks,

flick though the pages here for some laughs, misfortunes and a broken arm

Hmmm ..... forget the exercise bike, I'll buy a Wii instead!!

I saw an add the other day for a game that includes sword fighting, the "controller" becomes the handle of your virtual blade - must admit it looked VERY good!

Seriously, I might look into this ... exercise bores me silly so quick, this may be just what I need.

:-)
