The Scenic Route?
On Friday I ordered a few odds and ends from Bintel, who processed and dispatched my order promptly and correctly - no surprises there. However Australia Post are somewhat less efficient.
Tracking shows the parcel being picked up from Glebe and then going to the mail center at Alexandria. Good. Next sighting is in Sunshine West Vic. How many of you would chose to travel from Sydney to Wollongong via Sunshine West Vic.? It certainly isn't the way the locals go.
It's now at Chullora, which is an improvement, and is expected tomorrow. That will be 5 days to travel about 80km (nett!!). Mike could have walked down and hand delivered it quicker!
At least I don't need the goods until after the full moon.

I had a letter recently took five days from the U.K. to Perth, and then a further twelve days to get to me [300 clicks].
I'm waiting on a letter now that left the U.K. on 11/7, so 21 days up
to now.

Ordered something express post on Monday - should have been here today, but tracking shows it has not even departed from the receiving PO. Ho hum.
Then my order from Precise Parts in the USA was a laugh - USPS tracking showed it had arrived and departed Sydney airport on it's way to me (arrived yesterday). Aus Post tracking showed it as still in Miami, despite them having delivered it. Seriously Aus Post????!!! You scan it, yet it never gets into YOUR system, but it does get in the foreign system???? HUH?
Also have an order coming in from UK Express Registered. Royal Mail showing it as here, Aus Post claim they can't track it...
I also order quite frequently from an outfit in Orbost, Vic. Orbost is closer to Canberra than Melbourne, yet each time, the package gets picked up, sent back to Melbourne, then on to Canberra...
I have lost complete faith in Aus Post.

Yes, tracking of items arriving from overseas is a joke. I've experienced that too. However items going from Orbost to Melbourne makes some sense in that Melbourne is the state hub. Unless they can fill a truck it makes no sense to go direct from Orbost to Canberra. What could possibly make more sense is having a hub around Albury/Wodonga. I suppose it depends on whether they would save enough freight-kilometres to pay for the buildings and staff at the hub.

I'm waiting for 2 parcels that left Great Britain on the 25th July .... trackable also .... Aust' Post Website still shows them as being in Langley ( GB ) ... ..... fair dinkum what a joke .
The Royal Mail ' tracking ' site says they were processed thru' and had been delivered to their o/seas centre on the 25th July ( same day ) for dispatch to Australia.

The goods have arrived - yahoo.
I was just speaking to a college from Northern Ireland. His take is that the mail is slower here but, unlike the UK, he has had nothing stolen from the mail.
