Lego Apollo/Saturn V kit next month

As a bit of a Lego fan, I have been pretty excited about this since it was announced last year as a Lego Ideas submission winner. The final kit looks pretty nice, and I had a chuckle at the number of pieces.

Very cool.

You wouldn't want to lose one of those 1969 pieces!

You'll have to build it to work out which are the superfluous pieces that are there just to make up the numbers...

My proposed ban on lego (I have floorboards and dislike standing on things that hurt) may have an exception here...

That's such exciting news! I've never built anything Lego but I've always loved to see the work- the Space Shuttle one was incredible. As was the Qantas A380 I saw on display at my local Westfield shopping centre.
I wouldn't mind having a go at this, with help. Yikes 1969 pieces . Much scarier than the price .

Its easy Susy, just ask a 9 year old Lego kid, and his 8 year old brother I have two Grandsons that could build that in an afternoon .

They get together on a wet Sunday afternoon and create massive buildings.

That's good news, maybe we can be inspired by this baby I photographed for my buddy Ryan McNaught aka "the Brickman" a few years back.
It's 5.4 metres high and incredibly detailed.
Look closely & you'll find R2D2 & C3PO make a guest appearance as well.
Cheers

Andy

gonna have to get at least one of these, saves having to 3d print one (or inspire me to 3D print an even bigger one. I use the garage as my front door and always liked the idea of building the bottom of the boosters end to go floor to ceiling just inside the garage like i have a rocket parked in there some black paint scorch marks on the drive, an chalk outlines too

Leon, children are so smart it seems these days!
I hope hope they got a chance to see the Lego exhibition touring around Australia. It was at Melbourne Museum a couple of weeks of ago when I was there (Brisbane was the first) and I would've loved to have seen it if I had time.

Andy that's an amazing structure! I saw a YouTube video recently of a full sized car built entirely out of Lego .

They are are listed at $169.99 on the Lego shop, which seems very cheap for a Lego kit of this size. I wonder if it's meant to be $196.90 . They should end up being pretty widely available, based on other Lego Ideas sets. Released June 1st.

Bagged mine at Lego Discovery Centre at Chadstone. Seems to be a hot item. About a dozen waiting at opening time this morning.

I think they went out of stock very quickly and are currently selling on eBay for about $80 above RRP. If you are prepared to pay that you can probably secure one.

I picked up two sets and have sold my second one to a close friend for RRP.

I will say this is a fabulous kit - it's very cleverly designed "under the hood" - and looks amazing when fully assembled. Certainly has a wow factor.
