To scope or not to scope tonight??

Looks like there is quite a bit of fog settling in tonight. Jupiter still looks bright but some other stars not so much.

Worth taking the scope out tonight for us Melbournians?!

I've just retrieved my refractor from the humidity, it's dripping. The decking is so slippery it's downright dangerous.

Perfect here . Well so far anyway. The wind's just picked-up so could be covered in cloud by 11:00.
Had some great views of Jupiter, Orion, a cluster or three and was hoping to get onto the Clouds later.
Fingers crossed!

Probably not Stefan - there's still a heap of particulate matter in the air from all of the controlled burns.

Tonight is my first clear night for a while. There's smoke to the north, fog to the south but still clear overhead. Air is unstable but the camera is catching some DSO's, testing the dslr in-camera noise reduction.

Very heavy dew on all my gear last night but the dew heaters easily keep the optics clear and I noticed that the electronics panel of the CGEM stays dew free - must be enough warmth generated by the electronics.
Getting a (partly) clear night lowers the stress levels

We need another front to go through to put the fires out. It is lovely autumn weather though and winter will be here shortly.

Yep agreed!

I want to try out my new camera and get my polar alignment sorted out.

Been having trouble with alignmaster.

No good here in Warragul - very hazy until 11pm when I last checked. It's smoky this morning with burning off just to the north of us. The next week looks wiped out. I do have some tuning to do on the CGEM and a new camera purchase to ponder
