another ngc3132 - Ha only

Hello all

After seeing Mike's great shot of this object I almost gave up taking more data on mine....

Didn't turn out too bad. Nowhere near as deep an image as I'd hoped, but I had a couple of nights of good to very good seeing which helped the resolution (FWHM 1.6" to 1.8"). In the end the 340min stack was just on 2" due to a couple of average 2.4" nights.

Stars & background were just stretched with a slight unsharp mask. Layer masks on 3132 and DDP to tame the dynamic range. One image shows the near full frame down-sampled. The other is a central crop resampled 1.2x up from the original. Still trying to get SII & OIII.

GSO RC14 @f/8, QHY9 @ 0.38"/pixel, Baader Ha filter, ZWO 120MM + OAG, EQ8

Cheers

Maurice

Wow, that's still amazingly good, far better internal detail than Trish and I achieved with the 20".

Nice result, Maurice. You might be able to improve it a little with gentle deconvolution?

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Mike. The SII and OIII data is playing difficult to get though....

Tried a bit of that Rick, just looked a bit too 'stringy' for my liking.
Maybe I was being a bit heavy handed - I'll give it another go.

Decon does require a gentle touch to avoid the "wormy" look, Maurice.
