Not good tonight

Have had the 9.25 outside for the last hour and a half.

Just went and had a look through the eyepiece and unless I'm mistaken the seeing tonight is positively rubbish?!

Don't think it's the scope.

New focuser seems to work nicely, though.

Must be these warm days causing too much atmospheric turbulence. Maybe the jetstream's not playing ball?

No i dont think your mistaken Matt. I did the same and got the scope out after seeing a few stars pop out and if it was anything like here last night the seeing was not good at all!!
And i think i have been a bit spoilt from seeing excellent dark skies at Snake valley which doesnt help.

I had a scope out for about an hour. No mistake, it's crap out there.

Mark.

Both Matt, and add to that - an oval down the road which has turned all its lights on 3 nights a week from now on. Time to move to Cooma - this light problem is getting silly. How much photonic energy as a race of people do we really need to expend every night?

Hmmm. Interesting. No cloud here, but may as well be.

The seeing's that bad!

Just saw your post with the floodlit sports ground. A nightmare indeed

Have to agree there Matt, I couldn't even split Rigel the other night while doing an alignment. It was just a fuzzy boiling blob.
I've just got in from an imaging session tonight and it was definitely a lot better.

cheers

Hi Matt, I would say that it was a lot better after midinight, it was cooling a bit more then so that probably helped the situation. It was still warm enough to image in shorts and a tanktop.

cheers
