I have another project that is just sitting here and has to go.
It's an old Newtonian and mount, built in the 70's and salvaged by some wreckers from an old Adelaide home that was being demolished.
It is a very heavy duty mount, the Newtonian tube and Focuser is in good condition. But the 6" mirror has seen better days, needs replacing or repairing.
Great project and something when finished that you could leave out in the garden covered, for quick visual observing nights. Just push and pull!
The mount could easily take a larger OTA, maybe time to put your big Dob/Newt on it! Just add some rings.
This would be a great project.
$100 - local pick up way too heavy for anything else!
Please save me from the scrap yard! I am a lonely 6" Newtonian, with a 2" focuser and a mirror in need of care.
My mount is a heavy duty (push-able) solid steel and iron EQ style. It would also be good to occasionally share my mount with another large telescope, perhaps a 12"+ Dob/Newt for push around viewing. This mount could just sit in your garden, no fear of the weather!
Please save me from being turned into scrap, I only cost $40!
