Camera for Esprit 120

I don't know much about cameras and chip sizes with cropping and other factors, but when I looking for a scope for use with my existing 5D MKIII I was told to get the Esprit 120 because the smaller Esprit's wouldn't cover the whole 5D chip.

I am now looking at a dedicated cooled camera, and in particular ASI1600 color. I saw today that Zwo have a new camera, the ASI071, with the bigger chip size. Would that be the better option for the Esprit 120?

Thanks!

It depends on what FOV you want and your typical imaging climate.

I use a Canon 6D on my Esprit 100 and it works really well...the imaging circle is 40mm, so there's a teensy bit of stretching out way in the far corners, but nothing you can notice at full desktop size. The Esprit 120 and 150 will cover the full chip without issue.

I bought a ASI1600 to go with my Esprit during the warmer summer months and when I need that extra little bit of resolution. The pixels are much smaller than those of the 6D.

But it really depends what your interests are and which objects you're going to go after.

Hey mate, sry I missed your reply.

Whilst actually in Sydney ATM, I'll be mostly using this gear around Hobart in a year or so. I have the cash to buy now, but won't have then, hence wanting to get it now.

I will hope to be shooting nebula, galaxies and such.
