Getting the hang of Gain on the ASI1600MC

Hi to all
I have been slowly sorting out gain settings on the ASI1600mc I have been playing around with Unity Gain 139 with off set at 21 capture in Raw and De Bayer this image of M27 is only 15 x 1 min total 15 mins no cal frames as yet the moon was up .
I have the colour setting in Nebulosity 4 sorted out when De Bayering it used to come out a greeny pink

That looks really nice Pete, some good data for 15 minutes. If you are going to do it again, see if you can borrow a barlow or a powermate and try and get M27 larger.

Your data is much improved Stars are a bit elongated for 60s exposures so you may need to narrow down the PA a bit more.
That aside, nice job

Colin yeh thats another issue I have to overcome GUIDING I was using PHD 2 but had a lot of issues with it crashing and not Calibrating properly so I am using PHD 1 from Stark Labs It seems to work better on my iMac in saying that PHD 2 worked perfectly on my Panasonic Tough Book Lap top but I enjoy the large screen 21" and Sky Safari works on the Mac but I will keep at a it

I have found that if the polar alignment is not quite good enough PHD does struggle to get a correct calibration as it keeps drifting.

I have the polar alignment pretty spot on I think it is a setting in PHD over compensating I am not sure why it would be a differentness between Windows and mac
In this Image the stars are slightly better but it is only a stack of 10 x 1 min total 10 mins I got rid of 5 frames that had noticeable trailing and cropped
