I think I am getting used to solar imaging
Anyway, this is my second go using a Lunt 60mm double stack on loan from Malcolm (Barx1963), taken during the scouts science day.
400 frames stacked using Registax 6. Camera was QHY5II-L colour. Cropped to show the prominence.
Still learning processing in Registax, so any comments will be welcome!

I'm no expert at it, but your surface image portion seems to be quite banded or solid on each side. The centre portion seems fine.

I use autostakkert instead of registax. From what I understand, autostakkert is more up to date. If I use registax, it's usually after processing in autostakkert and it's for the wavelet processing.

For processing the proms/flares, you may need to mask the main sun disk so you can enhance the detail. I did that for the last link above. If you want to include the main disk and the enhanced proms, you just have to put them back together after processing.

I suggest going into the Solar imaging section and posting a reply to some of the people there posting Solar images - they can probably give you better info/tips.

I think the banding has something to do with the tuning of the etalons (the sun being spherical and the tuning focuses on the details across the surface )
I will check your links as well, so much to learn!

Bo,
You've imaged a filaprom - a filament which extends over the solar edge to form a prominence.
You just need more practise in tuning to get a more "even" on band.

I won't have too much time to practice as I do have to return those borrowed scopes soon, and the Melbourne weather is well, Melbourne weather!

The double stack does produce quite noticeable "banding". I have never quite figured out tuning it out. I think it is just the way the tilt tune works.
The pressure tuned ones may work a bit better, have considered getting it upgraded by Lunt.
(BTW for those wondering it is my scope that Bo was using)
