Capped Internet

Our internet connection has been capped due to our d/load limit being reached. it is at 64k/64k, a big difference from 1500k/256k. It has upset my son the most, he plays world of warcraft and he is not happy. Of course it depends on what we d/load but it makes you think is 50gig a month enough. It is frustrating when it is slow but i remember when it was great when we had the 56k modem.

yeah don't you hate that .. we origianlly signed a contract
with ozemail for a fast service with a big download limit.
half way through the contract the buisness was sold to i net
which has cut service speeds and download limits since they took over
and NO I cant get out of the contract.

When stuff like that happens it is just so wrong not to give customers the option of renewing or canceling the contract.

I was using iiNet when I received their email stating what you said. I was given the chance to cancel the contract, which I did. I then signed on with (groan) Dodo for the same price and unlimited download - no cap. Speed has been consistent too as I can measure throughput from and to my servers at work. Apart from never being able to contact them, the service has been clean and fast.

Is the fact that you came over from Ozemail shouldn't matter. You signed up for a service and you should get it. iiNet tried to say that I could pay $20 a month more and keep the speed of the original connection. I told them to go stuff their conenction. Call the TIO if you need to, they'll help.

In there terms of agreement ozemail can actually change things as they please.. and ozemail still exists insomuch as you can still call them up
so I guess that means Iam still contracted to them .

I only found out of the takeover when i net cut me off for non payment
they changed the billing date and then didn't debit my account !!
then doubled up 2 months later

Customer service is from India .. the guy I spoke to could barely speak
english and he was the superviser.. LOL

TIO says they are "legaly " in the right so I'll wait it out .

iiNet took over Ozemail at least a year ago now. If you're referring to the speed cut for users on Telstra DSLAMs from 1500 to 512 then you should have received the e-mail mentioned above with the contract cancellation provision specified.

iiNet/Ozemail support is in Sydney, Perth and NZ, not India.

well it sure sounded like an indian call centre

and no mail from last year afaik.. If I missed one you wouldn't really notice anyway the bills appear the same as they always have no mention of ii net on them .Aside the downgrade in service .. turning off my account because of an internal problem with there billing dept is pretty sketchy IMO.
Bad service is dealt with one way or the other and when time allows
I'll look elsewhere
