Herschel wedge: better than a Baader filter ?

I am considering a Herschel Wedge for using in my 80mm and 110mm refractors as an alternative to the Baader foil in front of the objective.

The Daystar Quartz ($1400==A$2000) provides a nice image, but is way too expensive for me.

I can get a Herschel for $170 (A$250), it does not show prominences and nice Halpha view as it is just white light, but it is a better (?) alternative to Baader foil.

It is really better ?

Over the years I've used both the Baader Solar film and various Herschel wedges.
IMHO the clarity and definition when using the wedge is slightly superior to the solar film on smaller refractors.
I prefer the Baader Herschel wedge and recommend it.
The cost of the wedge v's the solar film is not insignificant and unless your observations are going to benefit from the improvements, the solar film is still a very good solution.

Please look at Equipment Reviews section of this website > Accessories review.
Second line is what might help you. Lunt have a cheaper Herschel wedge. Cheers, John Wilkinson.
