NGC3576 and NGC3603

I imaged this object several years ago now with a relatively short integration time. On that occasion I only captured LHaRGB. I am still happy with how that image looks. This time however, I wanted to capture SII Ha OIII LRGB and see what results it would produce.

The Hubble palette with LRGB produces an interesting effect overall, though as always I vacillate for a period of time to determine which version of the processing I really like.

Click here for larger resolution image.

Comments always welcome.

It is quite a dynamic region Paul and you have captured it well Nice to see the wider area of a region I randomly chose a couple of nights ago

A great looking photo Paul.

Very sharp and I like the colours.

There have been a lot of photos of this object lately but I really love your wide composition.

Ross.

Great capture Paul. The colours are good and it almost goes without saying that the detail is good. The field size sets off this object nicely. Small enough for good resolution and wide enough to put the object in context.

Fascinating object Paul. Love the colour contrasts between the left and right lobes.

Thanks guys for comments. Much appreciated.

Colin, it is a very dynamic region and I think difficult to make it look right. Not entirely convinced I have completely dealt with its overall look.

Graham, I had a hunt around and could not find anything on that nebula. Its always interesting to find objects that were not expected in the field.

Rick, I am still having issues with registration. Might have to investigate PI registration. When there are too many stars it seems CCDstack2 has issues.

Graeme, not heard from you in ages. We must get some time down at Clayton soon I hope.

Amazing work, Paul. Glad to see you're still going strong.

The high-res image is a must see. The downsized compressed forum version does not do it justice.

I might have said this once already but in case I had not: I really enjoyed seeing you and your work on Brady Haran's Deep Sky Videos & Sixty Symbols.

The Hubble palette certainly adds some 'energy' to the centre!
It's a very effective composition Paul.
Like it.

excellent work Paul - the colour combination is particularly attractive and the wider field/composition is interesting.

Thanks Steve. It's been a while since that video was made. There are a few others getting around on RiAus channel that are a bit more up to date. Both interviewers were great and the experiences were positive.

Cheers! There were 8 vids in all with you on Brady's channels. I guess it was the one filming session for you but the footage got used in various contexts. I checked out out the RiAus vids. You're right about Saturn being the biggest hook. It certainly was my point of no return, even though it was just a blurry yellow fuzzball with ears through a very poor quality Duck Smith branded 4.5" Newt.

I've only just started dabbling in astrophotography. It is a lot of fun even with only very modest equipment. The progress of technology (cameras, software and computer hardware) is pretty amazing as it's getting less expensive each year to get into the hobby.

Btw I saw some of your work (Jupiter shots IIRC) on display at the Scienceworks museum in Melbourne a couple of years ago as well.

Not done any planetary work for a few years now. I had a bit of a break from it. I seem to enjoy getting more sleep these days. However, I have setup the scope out the back and been meaning to get out there to collect some data. With the ever increasing height of Mars and Saturn this is a must now. So I hope to get some data in the next few months if the weather is kind to me.
