Dobson Mount for 114mm reflector

Hi

My Father gave me his old reflector, as I now have something a tad larger, I thought I would put it on a Dobson mount for my better half's Father.

For those who are interested, here are some photos.

There is a 15cm disk of teflon sheet to rotate on.

It looks a bit tall, as it was made to used by a tall man while sitting on a chair.

Seems to manouver nicely and the tube can be rotated without loosening anything.

It has now also been fitted with three feet to stand on and there is a small right angled finder on its way.

Nice job Phil, makes those 114mm newts much more user friendly. The EQ mounts they usually come with are pretty wobbly and spoil the astro experience for a lot of beginners.
Did a similar mount for a former club member a few years ago after having made a couple of dobs for myself and they were quite happy with how much more enjoyable the scope was to use.

Cheers
Jeff

Hi

It is indeed easy to handle. I just hope it gets used!
