Lizard Id

Had this fellow wandering around the verandah the other day.

Not sure of what type it is but it has fantastic markings.

Can anyone help out with identifying it.

Sorry if the pictures are a bit small, I had to resize them to be able to post.

Cheers

Out of interest, this colourful fellow has been wandering around lately as well.

Any ideas

Hii Ric, the short tailed one you pictured is a "Shingleback" blue tongue, have a look at http://australianmuseum.net.au/shingleback-lizard, Mark

It's a common blue tongue lizard.
Keep them around, and keep the area clear of cats and dogs as much as possible. They eat the snails from your garden and compete with snakes for food.
The other one might be the less common (but not rare) blotched blue tongue.
The angry black one is a shingleback.

Yep, that's an eastern blue tongue lizard, scientific name Tiliqua scincoides scincoides.

Mark's on the money, that one is a shingleback.

That one's another blue tongue, but a different species; in this case it's a blotched blue tongue lizard, aka Tiliqua nigrolutea

Here in Adelaide the shingleback is known as a stumpy - probably because of the tail. Most of our stumpys have yellow tips on the side scales.

The first lizard pictured is a blue tongue. Probably the 2 most common large lizards found in Adelaide.
