Meade LX90 8" + Extras

Well, time has come to sell this. Not getting as much use out of it as I would like, and need the money. So, what am I offering for sale.

- Meade LX90, 8" scope, with both 1 1/4" and 2" Diagonals.
- Meade tripod (of course).
- Series 4000 1 1/4 inch 26mm eyepiece.
- Variable voltage "dew zapper", I made this myself, and uses a pulse wave modulated control to vary the amount of heat at the users discretion. The dew zapper has both primary and finderscope modules. There are two other modules which can be plugged in, for eyepieces, etc. I will throw those in.
- Home made dew shield. Works fantastic.
- A little attachment for the focuser, again home made, makes it easier to finely focus it.
- Home made wedge. It is a fixed latitude, for the Brisbane / Gold Coast latitude, some variance can be generated in latitude, I guess, by adjusting the tripod legs for polar alignment. The wedge was a prototype, the next generation was going to have an adjustment on it, but now I'm selling the scope, I guess it will never come into being.
- Connector cables to plug the scope into the PC for updates, etc. Cant remember the name of the cable set.

This scope is in excellent to pristine condition. There is barely a mark on it. It has not had a lot of use at all, at least not from me, and the previous owner also stated it was not used much. That being said, there are two little things I will mention. The leveling module on top at some stage, has been repaired, it works fine though. There is some fraying of the controller cable, where it attaches to the RJ plugs. Works fine, but later down the track might have to be replaced. Ebay has them quite cheap.

I do not have the original boxes, but I do have the original instruction manual.

This is an very portable scope, and I have taken it to a few locations, easily. They are not that heavy, and can be lifted and set up by just about anyone.

What am I asking for all this. Well, I have considered this carefully. New from various stores, they go anywhere from $3000 to $3500, without extras. There are about, say $500 of extras. Probably $4000 worth new.

I am happy to accept half of this, and to keep it under that deterring 2K mark, I will sell the whole lot, for $1980.

Serious buyers are welcome to inspect the scope, and it will be pick-up from Biggera Waters, Gold Coast, unless a prospective buyer wishes to organize a courier, which I am more than happy to accommodate.

Thanks for reading.....

Sorry about the first two pics, I have no idea why the preview image are on the side, seem to display fine when viewed.

Also, if anyone is interested in the "dew zapper" I made, I got the instructions from IceInSpace here, and made it.

I can make more of these. I'm good with stuff like that.

I can make a unit to suit an 8 to 10" SCT or similar for $110. I don't make a lot out of that, just for a bit of time spent making it. But it will come with

Pulse wave modulated voltage adjustment
4 port RCA plugs on controller
One larger heating module suitable for a 8-10 inch scope
One smaller heating module suitable for a 50 to 60mm finderscope.

Pretty much as seen in the images in the scope ad. PM if interested.
