South Australia Jupiter/Venus/ISS pass tonight 6/7/15

If anyone is up North of Udunda (between Robertstown and Point Pass),
or Blanchtown, or in Whyalla (or on the line that joins these 3 places) this evening, you will be in for a treat.
At 18:46-18:48 CST you should see the ISS split the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter.

Click on Venus to enlarge the map.

It would be quite a sight - as opposed to the current view of the underside of 5000 square Km of cloud...!

Do you need anything specific to view it? Besides a cloud-free sky of course.

Billi - just point yourself to HA, register your location via map app and check out ISS predictions. This info will tell you exactly where, when and in what direction things will be happening.

http://www.heavens-above.com/

Bright (mag -2 or less), direct (>65 degrees) overhead passes are the visually best (you only need your eyes!).

Also look at Iridium flare (Google it) predictions at HA.

Events better than mag -3 are quite spectacular, if in darkened skies.

But note that these are very localised - the flare only subtends 10-20 Km in diameter at Earth's surface.
