Cool ISS and STS-115 tonight 19 Sep 06

Watched the double pass tonight of the ISS and STS-115 together. Got some pics as they flew between alpha/beta-centauri and crux. Missed the really bright flare of the ISS though

they land thursday our time, wednesday theirs!

oh and a point to note

"The STS-115 astronauts will spend their last scheduled full day in space preparing for their return to Earth. Space Shuttle Atlantis is scheduled to land 5:59 a.m. EDT Wednesday at Kennedy Space Center, Fla.

The crew will stow equipment that is not needed for landing operations. Commander Brent Jett and Pilot Chris Ferguson will check out Atlantis’ engines in preparation for the deorbit burn, which is slated for 4:57 a.m. Wednesday.

The crew will talk to reporters at 5:30 a.m. today before an off duty period. Crew members will answer questions from media with the FOX News Network, KYW-TV in Philadelphia, KARE TV in Minneapolis and WGN-TV in Chicago.

Atlantis’ return to Earth will conclude STS-115’s successful mission to resume the construction of the International Space Station.

Atlantis delivered the P3/P4 integrated truss to the station on Sept. 11. The STS-115 and Expedition 13 crews used the shuttle and station robotic arms to attach the truss to the orbital outpost. Then, STS-115 astronauts conducted three spacewalks in four days to prepare the truss and its solar arrays for operation.

The weather forecast at Kennedy Space Center calls for a chance of thunderstorms in the vicinity, high cross winds and low cloud ceilings.

Teriffic pics plasmodium, that first one is really good.
I got to see them tonight as well. I've never seen the ISS flare up like that before, it was amazing. It was also the first space shuttle pass i'd ever seen as well.

Nice shots Lee! I like the first one with the two trails in it.

I had my scope all packed up in the truck ready to go out to my dark site, so I just watched the pass by eye. Great just the same!

Al.
