KFC in colour

Ahoy fellow astro-photographers,

My first attempt at adding colour to my previous B/W image of IC2944.

Quite a challenge, still need to experiment and fine tune processing and blending.

Altogether nearly 8 hrs of sky data (Halpha, SII and OIII).

Full resolution: http://www.astrobin.com/167003/

Thank you for looking.

Hi Slawomir,
Nice work.
Great detail & pinpoint stars.
It would be nice to get more of the yellow- hubble palette look.

cheers
Allan

Nice image. I like the pinpoint stars. Colour is good. The overall feel of the image is slightly weak though. Perhaps longer exposures or more of them to increase the colour saturation.

Greg.

You have the data here to produce an interesting image. Like Allan I suggest the Hubble palette. It takes some managing but it is worth the effort.

You have a 3D look to the image and the data looks very clean too.

nice work Slawomir,
I love the subtle version you've produced here - very natural looking.
also looking forward to seeing what other variations you cook up on this one.

cheers

This looks great Slaw, something a little different is always good

Some nice details and I like the wispy entrails look of nebulosity to the left, like tentacles, makes me see a big jelly fish, swimming to the right

I think the detail is great, Slawomir. Maybe try for a wider range of colours? It's a little too subtle for my (possibly dubious) taste

Thank you gentlemen for your advices and very kind feedback.

I have spent hours experimenting but all results thus far have been unsatisfactory, to say the least.

It looks like I will need to collect more data through S2 and O3 filters. 12nm filters are quite insufficient with increasing contrast from my location though, so I find it quite challenging to create vivid colour images at the moment.

Having said that, my 3nm Halpha works great, so I need to either move away from the city or get 3nm S2 and O3 filters, or preferably both - move to a darker place and get narrower filters

Again, thank you all for your support and encouragement.

Muchos Nachos.
