Anyone got spare aluminium?

I need 2 solid aluminium bars of 15mm thickness, 25mm width, 90mm length. Can anyone help with such stock spare? Was going to use extruded rectangular section, but prefer absolute rigidity.

Local aluminium shop wants a small ransom for it!

Got some but not your required thickness
Aluminium is quite cheap till you start getting up in weight per mtr of whatever you want then it gets scary pretty fast .

You should be able to get something for around 30 ish per mtr
but they may make you buy a half length.

Gday Lewis
For small sizes like that, another very good source of stuff is scrap metal merchants. Many will let you fossick, and only charge scrap plus a bit prices. ( Esp if you tell em you are playing with telescopes )

I found a bloke on eBay called offcuts.galore (his store is here http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/offcuts.g...p2047675.l2559 ) who does lots of aluminium and steel offcuts.

Hi Lewis,
I have a slab here, 20x90x500. I could cut 50mm off
If it suits your needs, maybe we can work something out via PM

Will talk Bob.

Joe Nastasi at Parallax is offering a solution, pre-drilled etc, so will see how much that one costs.

Otherwise, may just shift the guidescope forward an inch to shift the balance position.
