Walking upstairs I saw this little fellow on the wall, so what is it? Is it a baby scorpion?
Being a pom in Australia I am still constantly bemused by the amount of stuff that crawls, stings, bites , hits you on the head when you are asleep etc so would be no stretch of my imagination to see this little ****er turn into Eurypterids-!

Actually, you do get scorpions in Tassie. I grew up in Hobart and we used to get them under the house all the time.
Never seen on of those spiders, though.
true .. I was being ignorant .. I remember a scorpian in the trough at school in springwood in the blue mountains. sorry. they live in all climates. mind you I've never seen one on the gold coast.

We do get scorpions down here, they seem to like the light fixtures.
Only small ones though. Apparently the small ones can judo throw you and steal all your money, rather than sting you. That's what I say when I come in late at night anyway!!
Yesterday I did some imaging and left the door of the balcony open... Later I went to my bedroom because I was tired and saw a monster spider on the wall just by my bed. I wonder if it got in while I was imaging? However I don't know how I could overlook it, as it was the size of a hand. I was really scared.
I don't like to kill animals, but not knowing if it was going to kill me or my pet (I don't know if it was poisonous), I grabbed an insect spray and luckily it worked.
I later looked on the net and could not find the beast. I think its body was roundish and its legs hairy with yellow stripes? Does anybody know what it could have been?

I have what appears to be a family of lizards. 18 inches 12 inches and 2 @ 6 inches.
One ran across me on the lounge..jumpers so high..and then a goanna walking thru the door up on the stove sink up on an old wa mount down and out the door.
Later I see the big lizards tail is missing..mmmm
It's strange that my father-in-law, who I've seen handle and catch a brown snake and stick his hand in the mangroves to catch muddies, won't touch them.
In his words "they'll rot the bloody meat off ya arm and leave ya with a couple of sticks hanging out ya shoulder hole"
Not very scientific I know, and I'm not saying it's true, but I try my best to keep out of their way. But I'm like that with all creepy crawlies here. In England the House Spider also grows enormous, it tends to have a bigger body than the Huntsman but shorter, stumper legs. I used to pick them up in the house and throw them in the garden. You could feel their bites, like soft pricks with a needle, but they never broke the skin.

My father in law got bitten on the finger by a Huntsman and it wouldn't let go. He said it was pretty sore.
Years ago I sprayed one and it ran around berserk, which freaked me out far more than seeing it sitting on the wall. That was before I got used to them.
Now I trap them in a big jar or something and take them a few streets away to release them (and hope they don't come back...)
I found a scorpion in my living room today - southern Tassie in the bush. They are actually quite common around here, and are quite small. I'd still not want to be stung by one, however! Not seen any pseudos yet though...
I only allow one huntsman per room.
I don't mind them.
I caught one drinking from my mouth when I woke up for a pee in the middle of the night.
I'm not sure who was more shocked.
I don't allow them on the bed any more....
