Widefield from ASSA Springs Astrocamp

This is a stack of about 80 shots, using DSS.
Camera was Nikon D7000
Lens was the nifty fifty F1.8 at F4
ISO4000 for 30 secs.
Edited in PS.

It was windy so I went for higher ISO, shorter subs - unguided.

Quite pleased with how this turned and was quite surprised to get the cats paw in there.

I love widefields as they can contain a plethora of objects in 1 shot, and also the contrast between the dark dust lanes and brighter star fields.

The fact that you don't have to get your PA spot on either for this type of shot really helps too, when you're out in the field.

I was quite surprised to get the amount of colour to be honest, especially with it being an unmodded Nikon. I was thinking of turning to the dark side and going with a Canon and maybe getting it modded, but I think my Nikon does ok.
Have recently changed direction again and I'm thinking of adding a D5300 to my arsenal, as it performs better than my D7000 in terms of low light and it's not got a LPF, so could be just the ticket!
