New Horsehead from Jay GaBany

Have you folks seen Jay's latest version of the Horsehead?

http://www.cosmotography.com/images/...c434_2014.html

It's certainly different but I'm not sure if I like it or not yet. It reminds me more of Edvard Munch than Claude Monet.

Cheers,
Rick.

Not fond of it at all. Definitely not respecting the light

Different indeed, and a morbid-HDR kind of way.

I'd call it the dark horsehead lots of detail looks ok to me.
After all it's his photo to do whatever he wants with it. Guess i'm envious of his equipment as well !

Great details but it looks a bit like a HDR nightmare. I guess interpretation is in the processing each person like. Not my cup of tea though.

It looks like a painting. I guess that was his point.

I don't mind it myself. Great resolution, 1/2 meter of aperture. Heaps of saturation too.

1/2 metre RCOS.

It's cool but I find the bottom left part of the image jarring. I've never seen it look like that lurid blue before. It's like he spilt something toxic on his painting.

If you look into the dark shadow of the right shoulder of the horse head, there's a demonic red faced man (and and upper torso) seeming to push against the fabric of space, straining in a vain attempt to escape his own personal hell. He even has a bright star as baleful right eye (our left) staring forth. And a dark right hand and fingers (again our left) pushing against the gaseous envelope that constrains him while he gazes into our universe from his. He looks quite gargoyle and that imagery in this context is worth the entire picture for me. I love it. I'd crop that and expand it were it my rendition and I had the skill...
