[Paul Haese]

This object is one of the weirdest objects to image in my opinion. Last time I had a go at this, I was using Astronomiks filters which had bad halos. I was never happy with the composition and entire field of view. This time I like the composition and the field of view is much more to my liking.

The integration time is 23.5 hours with Ha containing 600 minutes, SII 390 minutes and OIII 420 minutes.

Of interest is that at the heart of this nebula in amongst the star cluster known as Pismis 24 is a star with over 100 solar masses. It is considered to be one of the largest stars known.

I don't recall having seen this one in NB before, Paul. It looks great compared to the usual red, red and more red LRGB versions Some nice detail too. An excellent rendition of the Lobster!

Another great mega-data effort Paul. The detail is very impressive. To my eyes the colour palette is a little drab but then I like a lot of colour so I guess it's personal preference.

Thanks Rick, Martin has done an NB before but there are only a few images to view out there. I find the LRGB versions to be a little boring and the detail gets lost.

I did have a lot more saturation on this image but decided to see what it looked like before I changed to the other image. Still not sure myself.

Seriously, I get what you are saying. This is one hell of an object in NB. It comes out puss green mainly with those god awful magenta stars. I prefer the browns but I truly see what you are thinking. It's one of those objects I think.

I didn't recognise it at first. That's sensational image. Narrowband really suits it as LRGB is usually just an all red boring image.

This was my thinking a few years back when I first saw an NB image of the target. Doing it to my satisfaction is another matter though. Still not 100% happy with it, but at least it is more in keeping with what I was aiming for in the beginning.

I have had that comment about not seeing it in NB before at a few places now. I must say there are only a few examples of it around the net, and I had thought everyone would have seen one or two images in NB of it. Its nice to surprise people. Thanks

EWWW, I'd hate to se ONE OF THOSE green, or even worse, with pus

I like it. It is an odd nebula, but nowhere near as off to me as the Tarantula (my least favourite nebula of all)

Personally, I'd prefer a bit more saturation, but, it's still a beautiful image as you've presented it. Top stuff!

Yep probably not for everyone, colour wise. Just interesting just from a detail point of view though.
