Very nice image. I think that it is great what amateurs can achieve today with minimal equipment and time. I was looking at M8 earlier this evening.

I'm having a bit of a love hate relationship with stacking at the moment it keeps spitting out some of my frames. Must have spent most of yesterday fighting some. It reduces the noise, but sucks the colour out too.
Hi Dunk; It often rejects some of mine too, but often because a particular sub is not up to scratch. It is recommended that the number of stars slider be set between 10 and 50, in order to keep the computing time
down to reasonable limits, but when it rejects more than a couple of mine
I set the slider much higher, and then it usually accepts nearly all of them.
It does remove most of the colour in the image, but if the DSS histogram
is adjusted properly, and the luminance and saturation settings are played with, I have no problem in getting the colour back. You have seen my offerings, and all my processing is done in DSS. PS is too much for me, with the exception of resizing.

If there's only a hand full of frames, I stack them in photoshop and bypass DSS altogether. But PS has so many features it takes forever to learn how to use it. So I dunno.
You can see how much I know about PS; I didn't even know that you can stack images there. My PS is old [PS 7], so it probably doesn't have
some of the present day features anyway.

Good work Ray! Looking like your noise problems have been worked out, the cooler weather helps.
I use Nebulosity for stacking and colours always come out the same as the original images, with less noise of course. DSS must fiddle with them a bit?
Hi Jo, I don't do anything different, so it must just be the cold nights.
I'll have to get someone in the family to buy Nebulosity for me for
Christmas.

Excellent work Ray. Im loving your single sub series, they are soo good for the exposure time and gear, youve developed some serious skill in such a short time. The extreme contrast to the sort data I collect and the results you get with just one sub on a DSLR is always a scource of entertainment. Im beginning to suspect your a ring-in .
Thank you Fred, lovely to hear from you. A ring in I most definitely am not. I do have many many years of film behind me, so know my way
around cameras and scopes etc: but I find the more complex
processing of digital images too challenging, so I am dabbling around
the edges of the digital world. The weather hasn't allowed me to do any
imaging for many weeks, which is why I am dredging up these single
frames. The 8" sucks in a fair bit of light.
