Eta Carinae with corrrector

I received the Skywatcher 0.85x reducer / corrector and reshoot Eta Carinae with it. I'm very impressed with the edge of field improvement.

I also received my lightbox (thanks Exfso!) so I used flats as well. No darks as I tried some at ISO 1600 and saw little difference. I've also gone to ISO 800 for this. Does anyone think it needs darks?

You can compare with my previous version here: http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...d.php?t=119053

Thanks for looking.

I've reprocessed and added 50 bias frames. Not sure of the bias frames did anything or I just processed it better, but there is fainter nebulosity now visible. I think I like the colour better as well. No darks yet.

Really looking for constructive criticism regarding if darks and biases are/were needed?

What is the hesitation in using darks? Is it just about the additional time required to acquire them?

Yes, I guess it's the time to acquire them. I have some at 1600 ISO - just left the laptop outside running BYE to get them - but have now decided to shoot at 800 ISO. So will need to put the laptop outside again to get some at the correct temperature. I've heard varying opinions if they are helpful with a cooled DSLR like mine.

Well, 10-20 darks would be as good and probably better than none (), so maybe make it a habit to grab a dozen or so. Unless your subs are really long, that's not going to be a major issue, and it will give you more options.
