iOptron owners - software assistance

So with the imminent release of the CEM 60 from iOptron, I have started looking at whether the mounts would even integrate with automation systems (mainly ACP as that is what I currently use).

There have been posts back in 2008/2009 complaining that the ASCOM driver from iOptron doesn't work, and back then failed at the Conform Testing of ASCOM.

Then there has been nothing for 4-5 years, until recently where I found a post on cloudynights:

Quote:
I had the ZEQ25 for a week and I returned it because the ASCOM driver was very very basic and not suitable for automation. No clue how it the driver nowadays.
I don't know when this person may have had the mount and when it was tested, but clearly it was not able to work.

The recent drivers from iOptron say that they pass the conform tests for ASCOM.

Would anyone with an iOptron EQ mount care to test a trial copy of ACP for me, or if in Canberra, can I test it?

TL : DR
Is there any iOptron EQ mount users willing to test ACP automation with their mount on the latest drivers, or if in Canberra, can I come test it?

Gday Sam

It wont help you unless you actually test with the latest CEM60 firmware.
Ie the ASCOM "driver" merely converts a standard "ASCOM speak" question into something the IOptrons firmware understands, and converts the IOptron specific response back to a common ASCOM format reply.
Ie If the firmware itself changes the way it works, it can break the drivers functionality.

Thanks for the reply, Andrew.

I understand what you mean, without the CEM 60 and its firmware, my questions are moot.

I suppose if someone with an iEQ45 tested though with its current firmware and ACP, it may at least show whether the iOptron drivers are more than just very basic connections in general.
