Scarsdale

I did some scouting on the weekend and came across this old rail bridge and I knew I had to go back at night and get some shots. Its only 30 mins from home and I wanted to take the new car out for its maiden nightscape voyage as well.

The 1st 3 shots are taken with the 24 mm lens on 6D. The first is lit with a 96 led light I've found it the best for providing some even light and it has the added bonus of having a warm orange filter which helps keep the shots warm.
The last is with a 14mm lens.

All have only had some basic processing in lightroom applied.

I think I need to work on the car shots, level road plus more angle in the car, they were only some quick shots and I was near a house (with dogs barking) so I didn't want to be constantly moving the car to get it in a better position. I will need to do more scouting of the area during the day, trying to find a spot on the right of the bridge (there is a creek and farm paddocks there) but hopefully I can find something and it would work as the central bulge rises in the east and hopefully not blocked by the Melbourne light pollution.

Happy for comments/critique

Cheers

Matt

Thanks Jo & Rod, the first is actually part of a Pano that I tried lighting the length of the bridge, will have to see how that turns out and post it up.

HAHA, I came across this Bridge when I was at the Snake Valley AstroCamp, I went for a drive and had Fish and Chips on the top of it I think it was called Nimmon's Bridge near Newtown. Great starscape.

Walking on it was fine, it creaked under foot on a few spots, and had lose bits of wood here and there, but I didn't feel worried about it falling down on me. I wouldn't image from it though, it may move a little as you said, it makes noise...

Hey Matt definitely agree with you there, that's a very nice bridge, it would be nice to see a panorama capturing the entire bridge and Milky Way above it. And very nice lighting on that first image. That's a cracker of a torch. I know what you mean about annoying neighbours. I try to make sure that I can't be seen from any direction when I stop my car to get out. Congrats on the new car

Hi Carlos, its a 96 LED video light that I got cheap on the internet, it takes 6 aa batteries and provided alot of light. (will take a shot of it and put it up with I upload the pano)

I did a quick stitch of the pano and will put it up here but not really happy with it as the lighting on the different frames is a bit uneven as I was only lighting for about 5 of the 15 seconds. Now I need to get out and get some milky way reflection in the new car while I still can. Your shot was a cracker.
